Modern Languages are important and a competence in foreign languages will be of crucial importance in a rapidly changing and increasingly competitive world. Students will need to be prepared for a world where greater skills in Modern Foreign Languages will be very much in demand.

The Modern Foreign Languages Department at Les Quennevais School aims to provide a gateway to the many opportunities that the multilingual world has to offer. Through innovative and creative learning opportunities, we want our students to develop into respectful, resilient and ambitious young people

Our team of skillful teachers has high expectations and delivers stimulating and engaging lessons which are tailored to the needs of all students, ensuring that they make the progress expected and enjoy their learning experience in MFL.  Our students develop a sense of pride, independence and a love for languages which are demonstrated not only in their enthusiastic, happy and confident involvement in the varied learning activities they engage in but also in the high results they achieve in external examinations.

All students study French at Key Stage 3. They have the opportunity to choose a language as an option subject at GCSE.  We currently offer French, German, Spanish and Portuguese.
