what job do i do
Early Intervention Family Support Worker
where do i work?
I am based in an office on the Highlands College Campus, however you may also find me within many of the Island schools both Junior and Senior as well as the nurseries. I can also be found working with clients in their own home or a suitable place of their choice.
When might you work with me?
You can request involvement with me when things at home are beginning to become difficult or have been for some time and you may require some support and guidance to put things right. I will come and listen to you and your families views in order to help you work together to resolve any problems you may be facing and look towards a more positive future.
What does a typical day look like in my job?
Most of my days are different and this is what I love about this role. I work with a range of families supporting them for individual reasons. I am trained in the Triple P Parenting programme which we are currently rolling out across the island both in schools in the form of seminars and discussion groups as well as with individual families on a one to one basis. I can also help with things like family budgeting and accessing community resources. Helping parents to focus on positive parenting and enjoying their children is my passion.
What do I like most about my job?
I like how varied my job is, no day is the same and that’s what makes it exciting. I like to wake up in the morning with the hope that I can help someone today towards achieving a more positive future together with their family. It’s really nice to think that I can support others to begin making the changes they wish for.
