Food is at the centre of our life.  No matter what your career choice your understanding of nutrition and the ability to cook healthy meals within a budget will affect your health and well being.  

At Les Quennevais School we aim to equip students with practical skills,a knowledge of ingredients and the creativity and confidence necessary to enable students to make a wide variety of food products independently.

Key stage three follow a structured programme covering topics such as diet and health, food provenance and sustainability and the scientific functions of ingredients.  Students also take part in the one, two and three star chef national award schemeAt Key stage four the department offers two courses a GCSE in Food Preparation and Nutrition (AQA)  and a more practically based BTEC Jamie Oliver home cooking course.   

The department is heavily involved in events across the island including the annual Skills for Life Competition an the Rotary Club young chef competition.
